Indian Navy cleans up 78,000 kg of plastic waste from 58 beaches, 2,000 km of coastline
Indian Navy has cleaned over 78,000 Kilograms of plastic waste in the last year from 58 beaches and over 2,000 kilometres of coastline. The Defence Ministry said, Indian Navy had initiated a nationwide Clean India Campaign under the Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan.
The campaign focuses on cleaning the seashores, beaches of plastic and other waste and increasing awareness about the importance of keeping them clean.
In 2022-23, over five lakh 24 thousand tree saplings have been planted by the Indian Navy across the country capturing approximately 11,500 tonnes of carbon in one year.
