PM Modi takes stock of situation at train accident site Bahanga in Balasore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation at the train accident site  Bahanga in Balasore district on Saturday (3rd June 2023) evening. At the site of the mishap, Mr. Modi reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations. 

He also interacted with local authorities, personnel from the disaster relief forces, and railways officials.  Mr Modi spoke to Cabinet Secretary and Health Minister from the site.  He directed them to provide all help to the injured and their families. He also visited Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore to meet the injured victims.


Earlier, in Delhi, Prime Minister chaired a high level meeting to review the situation in relation to the rail accident.  It  was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P K Mishra,  Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, NDRF Chief S.N. Pradhan and other senior officials. 

The death toll in the train accident has risen to 261, and around 1000 are feared critically injured.  Meanwhile, Several special and express trains are being cancelled following the accident.
