Odisha: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to visit Balasore accident site
Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee will leave for Balasore accident site on Saturday to supervise the rescue work, said Navanna sources. She will reach the spot by helicopter from Dumurjala Stadium at noon. Apart from visiting the accident site, she is expected to speak to the injured admitted to local hospitals.
It may be noted that after the Coromandel Express accident, the state government has already launched a helpline number, and all communications are being maintained with the Odisha government. Special teams have been dispatched to assist in relief and rescue operations.
124 RPF staff from Eastern Railway have reached the train accident spot and another 100 staff are on the way for rescue operations.
Indian army has been deployed to assist in the evacuation and treatment of the injured citizen. Army medical and engineering teams with ambulances & support services have been deployed from the Eastern command. The teams have been routed from multiple bases so as to reach the place of the incident as early as possible.
02 MI-17 helicopters have been positioned for relief and rescue operations by IAF. The operations are being carried out in coordination with Rly authorities on the ground. One heptr airborne at 1110 is also at the site.
