Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar addresses delegates at second meeting of G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group in Mumbai
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar on Wednesday addressed the delegates at the second meeting of the G-20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group (DRRWG) in Mumbai.
The Union Minister highlighted the need to create and invest in responsive and resilient infrastructure.
More than 120 delegates from G20 member countries, invited nations, international organizations, and important Indian key stakeholders, including the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of External Affairs, and others are attending the DRRWG meeting in Mumbai.
In her address, Union Minister Dr. Bharati Pawar said the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for emergency preparedness to be at the core of various development and finance policies.
She further said that we need to make sure that our healthcare systems are able to withstand the impact of future disasters. Dr. Pawar added that financing disaster risk reduction requires a multi-sector and multi-dimensional approach. On the side-lines, Dr Pawar inaugurated an exhibition showcasing BMCs disaster management measures.
