ICG organized a beach cleaning program under Mission Life in West Bengal and Odisha coast

A beach cleaning drive was organised by Indian Coast Guard on 21 May 23, which aimed at promoting “Jan Bhagidari” and public awareness for prevention of Marine Pollution and adoption of sustainable lifestyle for healthy oceans at selected beaches in the states of West Bengal and Odisha.

Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters at Haldia and Paradip in coordination with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), State and District administration of the two Coastal States of West Bengal and Odisha, organised beach cleaning drive at Digha, Sonapur and Chakratirtha. All Plastic bottles, bags and other wastes which were found in these beaches were collected.

Indian Coast Guard has been regularly coordinating and conducting coastal cleanup activities towards “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”. Senior Officers and personnel from local administration and various departments of state and central government alongwith local populace participated enthusiastically in the event.
