2nd Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting to begin in Bengaluru
The Second Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting will begin in Bengaluru today under G20 India Presidency. The three days event will be attended by 75 delegates from G20 countries, invitee countries and regional and international organisations.
The first Trade and Investment Working Group meeting was held in Mumbai. The second meeting starting today in Bengaluru will carry forward discussions on finding agreed solutions on issues related to international trade and investment.
On the sidelines of the meet, a Seminar on the disruptive role of technology in driving inclusive growth and resilient trade will be held today. This seminar will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash. He will deliver the keynote address.
The Secretary in the Department of Commerce Sunil Barthwal will also address the delegates in the Seminar. Nearly 200 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries, international organisations and representatives from the technology sector and business community will engage in deliberations on the issues related to the intersection of trade and technology. Two panel discussions will be part of the seminar.
After the successful completion of the first Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG) Meeting in Mumbai, the second TIWG meeting under India’s G20 Presidency will deliberate on reforming the multilateral trading system, and finding agreed solutions on issues related to international trade and investment.
There will be presentations by international organisations and knowledge partners on framing guiding principles for digitalization of trade documents, improving access to trade related information for MSMEs, devising a mapping framework for Global Value Chains, accelerating trade in services and initiating dialogue among regulators.
The two panel discussions will focus on the role of technology in driving inclusive growth and resilient trade. An experience zone, showcasing Indian tea, coffee, millets and spices and an exhibition on Indian startups have also been set-up. Sudhindra Akashvani news Bengaluru.
