Andhra Pradesh: Biodiversity reaches village level:  Says Minister Peddireddy at Biodiversity Day meeting in Tirupati

Tirupati, May 22: State Minister for Forests, Power and Underground Mines Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has said that State Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called that ‘biodiversity conservation is necessary for the survival of humanity’ and programs are being undertaken under the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board. He attended the state level program of International Biodiversity Day organized by the Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board on Monday morning at the SV Veterinary Auditorium in Tirupati.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that in accordance with the Biodiversity Act- 2002 and the orders issued by the National Green Tribunal, the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board was set up in 2006 to prepare the Public Biodiversity Register (e-PBR) at the State, District Board and Panchayat levels and to publish videos and publications on various topics related to Biodiversity , posters, knowledge materials, books etc. are being disseminated and followed up to the village level through the management committees on biodiversity. 97% of the food we eat comes from plants. 3% are from animals so we are plants and animals are the main source of our survival.

He said that 5,82,000, 11 nurseries have been developed and 6,60,000 medicinal plants have been grown through 13,000 Self Help Societies in the state for the distribution of medicinal plants to homes.

1) Taking steps to preserve the biodiversity in the state.. 2) Taking steps to utilize the biodiversity in a sustainable manner, 3) When the living resources are used commercially, the benefits are distributed equally to the claimants.

He said that despite doing all this, we have achieved to some extent, we must implement all the measures in the 2030 agreement as per the action plan, and we should work together to achieve a safe and sustainable biodiversity by 2050.

Earlier the exhibition stalls set up as part of the State level program of International Biodiversity Day-2023 1. Biodiversity Board, Vijayawada, 2. Yogi Vemana University, 3. Department of Fisheries, 4. National Green Corporation, 5. Forest Zoological Park jointly set up a stall, 6. Geo logical Survey of India 7. Botanical Survey of India, 8. Department of Agriculture, 9. Parampara Vaidya Maha Sangam Puttur vari Ayurveda Nilayam, 10. DRDA’s Chirudhanya priority, 11. Vidya Vidwan Badvel Ayurveda, Animal Husbandry Department stalls visited by Minister Peddi Reddy Forest Mission Life Selfie was taken saying let’s rebuild the biodiversity jointly organized by the forest department.

Gopinatha, TTD Board Member Pokala Ashok Kumar, Professor Sarjan Rao, Registrar Ravi, SV Zoo Park Curator Selvam, C.F. Nageswarao, ACF Nagabhushanam, Biotrim D.F.O. Yashodabai, DFO Satish, Chittoor, Tirupati, Anmamaiah  District Biodiversity members at all levels participated in a large scale.
