World Table Tennis C’ships 2023: Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra to lead Indian campaign in South Africa
Top Indian player Achanta Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra will lead the Indian campaign at the World Table Tennis Championships 2023 at Durban in South Africa beginning today.
The event will end on the 28th of May. Around 600 athletes will be participating in five events – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. There are 11 players in the Indian table tennis team.
In women’s singles, national champions Sreeja Akula, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Reeth Tennison will compete. While Manika Batra will compete in singles and women’s doubles partnering Archana Kamath.
Meanwhile, Sharath Kamal will captain the men’s squad. Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, who is rated 51st and Sharath Kamal, ranked 53rd will compete in the men’s doubles event.
