Madhya Pradesh becomes first state to provide air travel for pilgrims under Mukhyamantri Teerthdarshan Yojana
Madhya Pradesh is becoming the first State in India to send elderly people on pilgrimage by air under the Mukhyamantri Teerthdarshan Yojana.
The first batch of pilgrims will take off from the Bhopal airport today to visit Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. The batch of 32 pilgrims will leave for Prayagraj by an Indigo flight. The pilgrims include 24 men and eight women.
The Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana is one of the flagship schemes of the BJP government in the State.
The scheme was introduced in the year 2012. So far, more than 7.80 lakh elderly persons have undertaken pilgrimage by special trains.
