3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting under India’s G20 Presidency concludes in Mumbai
The 3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting, ETWG under India’s G20 Presidency concluded in Mumbai today. During the three-day meeting, over 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and international organisations deliberated on priority areas.
With member countries presenting their respective viewpoints, the most notable is the consensus on giving high priority to ensure universal access to modern and sustainable energy to all.
The key highlight of the 3rd ETWG meeting was the detailed discussions on the draft Ministerial Communique. The discussions and progress made on the draft Ministerial Communique will be taken forward in the 4th Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting, scheduled to take place in Goa from July 19-20, this year.
Power Secretary Alok Kumar, who is also the Chair for the ETWG said that the deliberations have been highly successful and all priorities flagged by the Indian side have been fully accepted by other countries. He also mentioned that the seven side events were also successfully held.
Among the side events held during the course of these three days included workshop with Multilateral Development Banks with the aim for mobilizing low-cost international finance, a seminar on Accelerating Energy Efficiency and promoting an energy efficient life,
Just Transition Roadmap, biofuels, harnessing off-shore wind for accelerating energy transition, Small Module Reactors for Clean Energy Transition, Synergizing the Energy Transition Pathways and sharing global policies and best practices to decarbonize ‘Hard to Abate sectors’.
