In IPL Cricket, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 5 runs in Lucknow. Chasing a target of 178 runs, Mumbai Indians scored 172 for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Earlier, put to bat Lucknow Super Giants scored 177 runs losing three wickets in stipulated 20 overs.

A special innings from Marcus Stoinis and an incredible effort at the death by the Lucknow Super Giants bowlers helped the home side pull off a thrilling win in Lucknow over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday (May 16).

Once Stoinis hammered his highest IPL score to power LSG to 177, MI were coasting towards a win at the halfway mark. However, a terrific comeback at the death, led by Mohsin Khan, gave LSG a narrow five-run win in the playoff race.

Hooda failed to cash in and played an awkward shot to perish whereas Prerak Mankad, hero of the previous game, edged the first ball behind as Behrendorff picked up two wickets in two balls.

LSG eventually crawled to only 35 by the end of the powerplay. And the first ball after the powerplay, they suffered another blow with Quinton de Kock edging Piyush Chawla behind.

Scores:  Lucknow Super Giants177/3 in 20 overs (Marcus Stoinis 89*, Krunal Pandya 49*; Jason Behrendorff 2/30) beat Mumbai Indians 172/5 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 59, Rohit Sharma 37; Ravi Bishnoi 2/26) by five runs.
