Congress party intensified its efforts to elect a new CM of Karnataka
The efforts are on to elect the new Chief Minister of Karnataka by the Congress party, as senior leaders Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar have staked their claim to the post.
The party has gained absolute majority in the assembly election held on 10th May and the Government formation process is in progress.
Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sushilkumar Shinde, AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh and Congress leader Deepak Babaria who were appointed as Observers by the AICC President have returned to New Delhi after collecting the opinion of all the Congress Legislators.
The Karnataka Congress Legislative party meeting held yesterday in Bengaluru had unanimously authorised the President of Indian National Congress Mallikarjuna Kharge to take a decision on the legislative party leader.
Akashvani Correspondent adds that both the claimants to the CM post may be called by the Congress High Command to New Delhi before making an announcement on the Chief Minister.
