Retail inflation drops to 18-month low of 4.70% in April
Retail inflation, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), eased to 4.70 percent in April 2023.
As per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data released today, inflation dropped to an 18-month low in April. Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) fell to 3.84 percent, as compared to 4.79 percent in the previous month and 8.31 percent in April 2022.
The Rural inflation in April stood at 4.68 percent, while urban inflation was at 4.85 percent.
Retail inflation stood at 7.79 percent in April previous year.
The Government had mandated the Central Bank to maintain retail inflation at four percent with a margin of two percent on either side.
