More than 5 Cr subscribers enrolled in Atal Pension Yojana across the country
The government has said that over five crore 25 lakh subscribers have been enrolled in Atal Pension Yojana covering all states and Union Territories. The scheme was launched in 2015, with the objective of delivering old-age income security to all citizens of the country, particularly to the workers in the unorganized sector.
Finance Ministry said, Atal Pension Yojana enrolments have continuously shown an increasing trend since its inception. The Ministry said, there has been a growth of 20 percent in 2022-23 over the financial year 2021-22.
The new Atal Pension Yojana account can be opened by any Indian citizen, in the age group of 18 to 40 years, who is having a savings bank account. It is a voluntary pension scheme, under which the subscriber will receive the pension after attaining the age of 60 years.
Under it, subscribers receive a minimum guaranteed pension of one thousand rupees to five thousand rupees per month from the age of 60 years, depending upon their contribution.
