Kerala govt irresponsible approach resulted in Tanur boat tragedy that claimed 22 lives: MoS V Muraleedharan

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan today said the casual and irresponsible approach of the Kerala government resulted in the Tanur boat tragedy which claimed 22 lives last Sunday.

The Minister, who called on the victim’s families at Tanur in Malappuram district today, told media persons that the boat service launched without obtaining mandatory clearance and ignoring safety protocols caused the tragedy.

He pointed out that no one has been held responsible for the mishap so far. He observed that the state government should not have jeopardized the lives of the people in the name of promoting domestic tourism.
