Kerala: CM reaches boat accident site at Tanur in Malappuram; Visited Tirurangadi Taluka Hospital
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has reached Malappuram, where a tourist boat capsize near Tanur claimed the lives of 22 persons last evening.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by several of his cabinet colleagues, visited the taluk hospital at Thirurangadi.
Later, he will also visit a family who lost nine members in the tragedy. He will also hold a meeting with Ministers and other senior officials at the Tirur Guest House.
The Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, V D Satheesan is also scheduled to visit Tanur today. Meanwhile, the state government has cancelled all its official programmes scheduled for the day.
Search operations are continuing in the river where the tragedy took place last evening. Naval divers and an NDRF team have joined the search operations along with state police, fire service personnel. The owner of the boat is absconding.
