Karnataka Election: Assembly election campaign ends; Voting will be held on May 10

Campaigning for the Assembly elections in Karnataka ended today. The 48-hour silent period began at 6 PM and will continue till the end of the polls on the 10th of May. Most of the leaders campaigned in their constituencies to consolidate their vote bank. A number of roadshows were held across the state by leaders of various political parties on the last day of the campaigning.
 
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a road show in Shigoan, in his constituency. Karnataka’s ex-Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, in a press conference in Bengaluru, expressed confidence that BJP will win 130 to 135 seats. He emphasized that people will support the party because of its development agenda.
 
Congress national president Malliakarjuna Kharge addressed public meetings in Kalaburagi South and Ballary assembly constituencies. Congress state president DK Shivakumar campaigned in his constituency in Kanakapura. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi travelled in a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation-BMTC bus today and spoke to college-going girls and working women. He briefed them about the promises made in the Party’s manifesto, especially for girls and women. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi addressed a public meeting in Vijayanagar in Bengaluru.


JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda campaigned in Malavalli, Holenarasipura, Hassan, and Ramnagar on the final day of the campaign. His son HD Kumaraswamy held various public meetings in his constituency Chennapatna today. Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party held a roadshow in Bengaluru.
