Govt focusing more on quality of products to make domestic industries more competitive: Piyush Goyal
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the government is focusing more on quality of the products to make domestic industries more competitive. He said quality has also been one of the main pillars of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Minister was addressing the media on issues of quality control orders, drones and electric vehicle testing in New Delhi today.
He said, in this Amrit Kaal of next 25 years, quality in every facet of life will be the most important factor to determine India’s success story, therefore, the government is looking to enhance the testing infrastructure.
The Minister added, the government is setting up an enhanced testing ecosystem to make India a global manufacturing centre and industry’s participation will be crucial in this. Talking about setting up quality standards for drones and E-vehicles,
Mr Goyal said, as of now the government is looking to implement quality control orders on drones for agricultural purposes only to help boost yields and benefits the farmers. He said, works are also being done for setting up quality control orders for electric vehicles as it is the fastest growing sector in the country.
The Minister also informed that quality orders on toys were delayed earlier, but with setting up a good system in place for testing standard of toys manufactured locally and imported ones, a great transformation is being seen in the industry. He said, lakhs of people are getting employment and entrepreneurial opportunities with this transformation in the toy industry. Mr Goyal further added that the import of toys has reduced by 70 percent and the exports of toys has increased by 61 percent in the last few years.
