Mumbai: Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group of G20 Council to start from May 23
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said that the scheduled meeting of the G20 Council’s Emergency Risk Mitigation Working Group is an opportunity to highlight city’s achievement in the field of disaster management to the world.
He was speaking at a review meeting of preparations being made by the BMC and other agencies for the upcoming meeting of the Emergency Risk Mitigation Working Group of the G20 Council in Mumbai from 23 to 25 May 2023.
He lauded the work done by Mumbai in the last few years in the field of disaster management has been recognized not only at the national level but also at the global level. He continued saying that all the agencies including the BMC should maintain proper coordination and complete the works within the prescribed time.
He informed that the meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group of the G20 Council will start on 23 May 2023 in Mumbai. More than 120 members will attend this meeting.
On the occasion of this conference, representatives of the working group will visit Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters. This will include a study tour of the control room of the Emergency Management Department at the headquarters, a heritage walk of the municipal building.
