Dubai Badminton Asia C’ship: Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and HS Pranai storms into singles quarterfinals
In Asia Badminton Championship in Dubai, Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu entered the Quarter Finals of Women’s Singles while HS Prannoy in Men’s Singles. Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and the Mixed Doubles pair Rohan Kapoor & Sikki Reddy have also entered the Quarter Finals. Sindhu defeated World Number 9 Han Yue of China 21-12, 21-15 in the Round of 16 of Women’s Singles.
In the second round, Prannoy defeated Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-16, 5-21, 21-18. He will face Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan in Quarter Finals tomorrow.
Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated the South Korean combination of Jin Yong and Na Sung Seung, 21-13, 21-11 in the second round.
Rohan Kapoor & Sikki Reddy advanced to the quarter-finals as they received a walkover from Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yu Jung of South Korea in the second round. They will next face the pair of Dejan Ferdinansyah and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja of Indonesia, tomorrow.
Earlier, Kidambi Srikanth lost to Kodai Naraoka of Japan in the second round. Srikant lost 14-21,22-20,9-21.
Women doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have been ousted as they handed a walkover to the South Korean combination of Jeong Na-eun and Kim Hye- Jeong in the last-16.
