ICG sign MoU with Korean Coast Guard for best practices, conducting joint exercises

New Delhi, 25 Apr 23: A seven member delegation of Korean Coast Guard ( KCG) led by Commissioner General KIM Jong Wook, Commissioner, Korea Coast Guard are in the capital. They are being hosted by the Indian Coast Guard for a High Level Meeting at the Coast Guard Headquarters.

The head of the delegation formally called on Additional Director General Rakesh Pal, PTM,TM, Director General Indian Coast Guard (Addl Charge) prior commencing the deliberations.  

This meeting is the 11th of ongoing series between the two Coast Guards, under the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2006. The HLM is focused at augmenting the operational level interaction and capacity building in the areas of Maritime Search & Rescue (M-SAR), Marine Pollution Response (MPR) and Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE).

The professional relationship amidst the two Coast Guards is very strong since 2005, as there has been a mutual exchange of delegations and ships visiting each other for professional interactions.

This convention and exchange of pleasantries is in furtherance of the efforts by both governments, to enhance mutual cooperation in the field of maritime safety and security at sea.

The deliberations strengthened the existing bonds in accordance with the provisions of the MoU by sharing best practices, conducting joint exercises and enhancing training collaborations.

The meeting was significant in providing added impetus to the already existing professional relationship between ICG and KCG.
