Hyderabad: ASU team visited GITAM

A two-member delegation from the Arizona State University (ASU), USA visited GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad on Friday. The delegation included Dr. Brett Duarte, Clinical Associate Professor, W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU, Co-Director MSBA, Co-Director Supply Chain Executive Consortium (SCEC) and Holly Singh, Associate Vice President, International Students & Scholars Center at ASU.

They interacted with GITAM HoDs, Faculty of School of Engineering and Management to explain the possible areas for collaboration. They mainly focused on training, research collaboration, and fee waiver to the GITAMites.

Later, Dr. Brett Duarte interacted with GITAMites and delivered a talk on ‘Business Analytics & The Role of the Decision Scientist’. He advised the students they must become Decision Scientist, not just data scientists. He also briefed about W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU and its programs on offer etc.

While answering the queries raised by the students, to get admission into his B-School no work experience is required and also accepting 15 years of education in India for the selected universities. ASU ranked number one in innovation and its supply chain department ranked second in the USA, he proudly announced.

Holly Singh explained that ASU has about 12,000 International students and out of them 6,600 are Indian students. Out of 6,600, about 2,000 have been pursuing CSE, 1,000 are Software Engineering and the same are in IT. About 1,300 students from India have been pursuing US and out of them 95 percent are in CSE.
