India Steel 2023: FICCI President Subhrakant Panda calls for urgent steps to increase capacities of existing coal mines

The second day of the India Steel 2023 conference in Mumbai witnessed more than 10,000 footfalls and participation by about 80 speakers on topics ranging from policy frameworks to technology solutions, and circular economy.
 
The day began with a session on “Technology Solutions for Enhancing Productivity and Efficiency”.

Moderated by Additional Secretary(Steel) Ms Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, the participants discussed what would be the best course of action for the industry to grow responsibly using modern technology as the world is focusing its attention on the India Growth story.

During the session, FICCI President Subhrakant Panda called for urgent steps to increase the capacities of existing coal mines.
 
During the session ‘Conducive Policy Framework and key enablers for Indian Steel’, the participants noted that decarbonization would be the key driver to take the steel sector forward.

The session, moderated by Joint Secretary (Steel), Abhijeet Narendra focussed on how indigenous technology and energy-efficient methods can be utilized for steel production.
